Clash for Ca$h Series

Sunrise Table Tennis Club

(Dec 28th, 2024) We would like to thank all of those players and their families who supported our 3rd annual Clash of Champions Invitational by competing and watching. We had a fantastic turnout, 43 players in 5 divisions. And it isn’t easy to get all those matches played in one afternoon, particularly when we had so many closely contested matches!

In the 2024 Invitational, Roberto Morales Blandino finished on top, beating Nandu Iyler who had beaten Roberto in group play earlier. In the semifinals it was Roberto beating Michal Klassa and Nandu winning over Aroon Klunthong in a 5 game thriller. Roberto Morales will now have his name engraved on the Champions cup and we look forward to his defending that title next year!

Our Clash of Champions champion, Roberto Morales Blandino flanked by silver medalist, Nandu Iyler and bronze medalist, Michal Klassa and Aroon Klunthong

In the Advanced division, Jun Ou topped Winston Dowridge in the finals after taking down Al Millett in the semifinals. Andrew Loane was our other semifinalist.

In the Intermediate Class, Leonardo Rozas finished a perfect day winning all 6 matches he played, beating John Nagel in the finals.

In our Women’s division, Julia Leong was the champion, with Lily Jiang finishing second.

We had a great turnout, learned some lessons and we hope to run bigger and better tournaments in the future. We thank our sponsors, Clearwater Parks & Recreation and Paddle Palace Table Tennis where you can get all your table tennis equipment. Most of all we want to thank the participants and all our volunteers for helping us promote table tennis. Thank you!

The July edition of “the 2024 Clash” is in the books! It was our largest turnout ever! 42 players! Thank you to all the players and their friends and families who came to watch! Thanks to Paddle Palace Table Tennis for their sponsorship! You can get all your table tennis supplies from Paddle Palace! We got off to a slow start, we had trouble getting our tables out of the storage room because another group was hosting an event. But even with the delays we were able to finish in less than 4 hours.
The play was fantastic. Nandu Iyer (2151) won the Championship division, beating Aroon Klunthong (2140) 4 games to 2 in the finals. Amjad Mehboob and Jamaica’s Joel Lamm were our semifinalists. In the Elite Class Keth Sereyphorth beat Doug (the hitman) Wilcock. New arrival Tanya Sihitova and Deepak Kohli were the semifinalists there. In the Master’s division Carl Gibbs topped John Nagel and in the Challenger class Dean Rosen won over Aziz Bahazaq. Thank you to all the players who helped set up and break down. Our Clash tournament is a lot like a flash mob and we did a great job of representing the sport of table tennis today. Great job team
